Surface Preparation

The Operating Mix must be maintained through controlled operational practices.  Practices are invalid if mix is not consistent batch after batch.

PanAbrasive abrasives meet or exceed every aspect of SAE and SFSA specifications.  Our ISO 9001:2000 Registration assures consistency in our manufacturing process.

Our proprietary process adds no cosmetic chemical coatings such as nitrates or chlorides.

Low chloride levels ensure low conductivity of our abrasives.  High salt or chloride levels means high conductivity, which results in a higher corrosion rate.   The substrate degrades and the coating fails.

Scheduled and preventative maintenance combined with accurate settings must be maintained in order to produce controlled procedures.
Training is provided to operators and maintenance personnel at no charge.  Additionally, a Statistical Process Control (SPC) computer program for the blast operation is also available.

The statistical process control involves :

  • Setting and maintaining the blast pattern for the product.
  • Monitoring the volume of abrasive thrown.
  • Adjusting the separator to remove scale, spent abrasive and contaminants.
  • Monitoring "fines" in the mix which will reduce failure caused by back-side contamination.
  • Regulating the dust collector and removing other fines and dust.
  • Performing record keeping by monitoring:
  1. Operating mix profile
  2. Horsepower utilization
  3. Abrasive additions vs. consumption
  4. Processing times to ensure optimum cleaning in minimal time
  5. Surface area cleaned vs. pounds of abrasive used
  6. Parts life and maintenance vs. products cleaned

Following the above SSPC ensures maximum effectiveness and measures cost and efficiency.

PanAbrasive technical support and quality abrasives will have a positive affect on every aspect of the blast operation costs. The price difference between a quality abrasive, supplied with technical support, and a cheap (lower price) abrasive is insignificant in light of the overall blast cleaning cost savings.
